At First4Maths Academy, we believe that concrete resources are an essential bridge to help children develop deep conceptual understanding, recognise patterns, and make meaningful mathematical generalisations.
Too often, teachers may assume that children have internalised these patterns through abstract teaching alone, but slowing down and revisiting these ideas with manipulatives allows key rules and relationships to be seen, not just memorised.
